Rosewater Geranium Lotion Recipe

About This Recipe:

This lotion is perfect for any time of the year. The oils and butter will soak into dry skin leaving it silky smooth. The isopropyl myristate gives the lotion a non-greasy feel while the Geranium Essential Oil gives it a soft rose scent, not at all overpowering.

Recipe Ingredients:

• 50 oz. Distilled Water (not included in kit)
• 5 oz. Argan Butter Blend
• 3.50 oz. Emulsifying Wax - Traditional
• 2.55 oz. Stearic Acid
• 2 oz. Camelina Oil
• 2 oz. Rose Water Essential Hydrosol
• 2 oz. Sesame Oil
• 2 oz. Isopropyl Myristate
• 0.50 oz. Geranium EO - Certified 100% Pure 732
• 0.50 oz. Rosemary Oleoresin Extract (ROE)
• 0.60 oz. Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF (Compare to Optiphen Plus)

Equipment From Home:

• (2) Microwave-Safe Measuring Cups (64 oz.)
• (1) Microwave
• (1) Spatula
• (1) Stick Blender or Hand Mixer
• (1) Mixing Spoon
• (1) Scissors
• (1) Scale - Digital Display
• (1) Thermometer
• (1) Distilled Water

Directions:

NOTE:  If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.

1. To a large microwave-safe bowl, add 50 oz.of water. Set aside. 
2. To second large bowl, add emulsifying wax, stearic acid, argan butter, camelina and sesame oil.
3. Heat in microwave until waxes have completely melted. Stir.
4. Heat water for 2 minutes. Add Rose Water Hydrosol and stir.  
5. Slowly add water to melted wax/oils. Using stick blender or hand mixer, begin to blend. Blend on low for a few minutes, then blend on a higher speed until lotion starts to thicken. 
6. Add Isopropyl Myristate, Geranium Essential Oil and Rosemary Oleoresin Extract (ROE). Blend to incorporate additives.
7. Once additves are mixed in well, turn off mixer. Check temperature of lotion to be sure it is below 176°F.  Add the preservative and blend to mix in.
8. Fill bottles to 7.75 oz. each. Product will thicken as it cools. Leave pumps off until lotion has cooled completely.
9. Trim dip tubes with scissors to fit bottles and place in lotion.
10. Label product accordingly.

To Use: Apply to skin as often as desired.
