Blue Agave Sugar Scrub Recipe

About This Recipe:

This scrub is super thick! Scoop out a little scrub, add a little bit of water and gently rub into your skin. After rinsing this off, your skin will feel soft, smooth and rejuvenated.

(1) 2 oz Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF (Compare to Optiphen Plus)

(1) 2 fl. oz Blue Agave Sugar Fragrance Oil 878

(1) 2.5 gm Bag NuTone Navy Mica Powder

(1) 1 Each Hairnets - 24 inch Disposable

Recipe Ingredients:

• 2 oz. Safflower Oil
• 2 oz. Apricot Kernel Oil
• 2 oz. Meadowfoam Seed Oil
• 1 oz. Jojoba Oil - Clear
• 3.3 oz. Emulsifying Wax - Traditional
• 2.2 oz. Stearic Acid
• 3.5 oz. Shea Butter - Ultra Refined
• 10 oz. Sugar - White Granulated Sugar
• .2 oz. Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF (Compare to Optiphen Plus)
• 0.50 oz. Blue Agave Sugar Fragrance Oil 878
• 1 .15 ml Scoop NuTone Navy Mica Powder

Equipment From Home:

• (1) Stove Top or Double Boiler
• (1) Stainless Steel Melting Pot
• (1) Hand Mixer
• (1) Mixing Spoons
• (1) Spatula
• (1) Scale - Digital Display

Directions:

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.

1. To a heat-safe pan, add Emulsifing Wax, Stearic Acid, Safflower Oil, Meadowfoam Seed, Apricot Kernel and Jojobo Oil. Heat over low heat until waxes have completely melted.  
2. To melted wax/oils add Shea Butter and stir until melted. If necessary, place on heat source to melt.
3. With hand mixer, blend on low until ingredients have emulsified.
4. Let product cool down and thicken up. Product can be placed in refrigerator to cool faster. 
5. When cool, stir mixture and briefly blend with mixer.  Add preservative and fragrance and mix well.
6. Add granulated sugar and mix in gently to incorporate.
7. Add 1 scoop of blue powder and blend with mixer until product gets fluffy and smooth.
8. Fill jars to approximately 6.3 oz. by weight. If more product remains divide up evenly. Apply lids.
9. Label product accordingly.

To Use: Massage onto wet skin and rinse off.
