Shea Butter & Grapefruit Salt Scrub Recipe

About This Recipe:
This gentle exfoliant will help remove dead skin while it refreshes and brightens leaving your skin renewed and moisturized. This scrub is not emulsified so the oil may settle to the top of jar. Product should be mixed before each use.

Recipe Ingredients:
Measure ingredients with a scale or precise measuring tool.

• 40 oz. European Spa Salt - Fine Grain
• 10 oz. Grape Seed Oil
• 4 oz. Shea Butter - Ultra Refined
• 2 oz. Shea 50
• 0.40 oz. Grapefruit - EO & FO Blend 114
• 0.30 oz. Preservative - Phenonip
• 0.10 oz. Vitamin E Natural T-50

Directions:
NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron, workspace and sanitized equipment.
  1. In metal pan on stove top (or in double boiler), heat shea butter on low until melted. Add grape seed oil and stir. 
  2. Add salts to large mixing bowl. Pour melted butter/oils over salts mixing well with large spoon. 
  3. Add fragrance oil, vitamin E, Shea 50 and preservative. Stir well.
  4. Place bowl in refrigerator for 1 hour or until mixture starts to thicken.
  5. Remove and stir to blend in all ingredients well. Mixture should be thick enough so there is no separation of oils.
  6. Fill each jar to approximately 5.5 ounces. Add lids.
  7. Label product accordingly.
  8. NOTE: This is an oil scrub and will be very slippery when used in tub or shower. Be sure to put a warning on label if selling. Do not use if skin has any cuts or open wounds as the salt will sting.
  9. NOTE: Oil may separate from salts in jar. Be sure to mix product before each use.
To Use: Gently massage onto wet skin. Rinse off with warm water.
