Nose & Paws Pet Lotion Bar Recipe

About This Recipe:
Our four-legged best friend gets dry skin too! So why not pamper their paws and nose with some moisturizing lotion. This wonderful bar will moisturize and soften dryness while also protecting their skin from environmental elements. Also great for humans!


Shopping List:
(1) 1 lb Shea Butter - Ultra Refined
(3) 2 oz Beeswax - Ultra Refined & Bleached
(3) 2 oz Olive Butter Blend
(2) 2 oz Avocado Oil
(1) 2 oz Neem Oil
(1) 2 oz Oatmeal - Colloidal
(1) 12 Set 02 oz Kraft Paperboard Tube & Cap Set - Push Up


Recipe Ingredients:
Measure ingredients with a scale or precise measuring tool.

• 12 oz. Shea Butter - Ultra Refined
• 6 oz. Beeswax - Ultra Refined & Bleached
• 6 oz. Olive Butter Blend
• 4 oz. Avocado Oil
• 2 oz. Neem Oil
• 0.50 oz. Oatmeal - Colloidal


Equipment From Home:
• (1) Heat-Safe Melting Pot
• (1) Mixing Spoon
• (1) Stove Top
• (1) Refrigerator
• (1) Spatula
• (1) Scale - Digital Display

Directions:
NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.
  1. To a heat-safe melting pot, add Beeswax, Olive Butter, Avocado Oil, & Neem Oil. Heat over low heat until completely melted. 
  2. Remove from heat and add the Shea Butter. Let this melt naturally in the pot. Stir and mix well.
  3. Add Oatmeal. Stir. If necessary, you may return the pot to low heat to fully blend in the oatmeal. 
  4. OPTIONAL: If scenting, add 1% Essential Oil. This bar will have a natural aroma so it is not necessary to fragrance.Line up paperboard tubes and when the mixture is about  135-140°F, pour into each tub ( 2.15 oz.) Let completely harden. Can also be placed in refrigerator to set up.
  5. Once hardened, cap and label accordingly.
To Use: Apply to nose and paw pads daily during winter months. Watch that your pet does not lick off the product.
