A Sip of Sangria CP Soap Recipe

About This Recipe:

This smells delicious! You can never have too much of this Sangria. It is very moisturizing and conditioning to the skin. Feel and smell great!

• 4.09 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Flakes
• 8.40 oz. Coconut Oil - 76º Melt
• 7 oz. Palm Oil
• 3.92 oz. Olive Oil - Pomace
• 3.36 oz. Apricot Kernel Oil
• 2.8 oz. Avocado Oil
• 1.12 oz. Shea Butter - Natural
• 0.84 oz. Castor Oil
• 0.56 oz. Cocoa Butter - Chocolate Odor & Natural Color
• 1.75 oz. Pink Sangria* Fragrance Oil 692
• 1/2 Teaspoon(s) Neon Orange You Glad Powder
• 1/2 Teaspoon(s) Neon Pretty In Pink Powder
• 2-3 Tablespoon(s) European Sea Salt Blend - (Pure Salt)

Directions:

NOTE: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soapmakers.

1. To a polypropylene pitcher, add distilled water. To a polypropylene container, weigh out the lye.
2. Slowly add the lye to the water, stirring until lye is completely dissolved. Set aside in a safe place to cool.  
3. To a large heat-safe container, add all the oils and butters, except fragrance. Heat on stove top until melted. Set aside to cool. 
4. To two separate beakers, pour 0.5 oz. of melted oils into each.
5. Add 1/2 tsp. of neon pink powder to one beaker, mix well. To the other beaker of oil, add 1/2 tsp. of neon orange powder and mix. Set beakers aside.
6. Check temperatures of the lye water and then of the oil/butter mixture. When both are about the same temperature around 120°F, you are ready to mix them together.
7. Place your immersion blender in the oils and tap on the bottom of the bowl to "burp" it.
8. Slowly and carefully pour your lye water over the shaft of the blender. Blend your ingredients until they come to a light trace.
9. Add the Pink Sangria Fragrance Oil and hand stir into the soap mixture until blended. 
10. Carefully separate the mixture into 2 containers to add color. If you prefer more of one color, then divide the mixture accordingly. We divided 60-40, adding more orange than pink.
11. Add orange powder to the larger amount of soap. Using a spatula, mix the color in well. In the other bowl, add pink powder to the smaller amount of mix. Using a spatula, again, mix the color in until the entire mixture is one color.
12. Pour the pink color into the orange colored bowl. Using a spatula, do a quick pot swirl technique with your spatula.
13. Pour the mixture into the mold. You can 'play' with the texture on the top of the soap if you like. Top with the salt blend and allow a little time to set up.
14. Carefully insulate the sides of the loaf with towels. After it has set up some, lightly cover the top as well.
15. After 24 hours, you can unmold the loaf and cut the soap into 1 inch slices. Allow the soap to cure for 4-6 weeks before using. Check the pH to be sure it is at a skin-safe level.
16. Package as desired and label product accordingly.

To Use: Lather onto wet skin.  Rinse with warm water. Keep out of eyes.
