Wax Ornament

About This Recipe:

These beeswax ornaments will look beautiful hanging on any holiday tree. The Amber and Oakmoss fragrance enhances that holiday feel. They can also be hung from a window latch or to add the finishing touch on a special package or gift bag. If stored in a cool place, these ornaments should last for years.  

Shopping List:

(1) 1 lb Beeswax - Ivory

(1) 2.5 gm Bag Sparkle Dark Gold Mica Powder

(1) 2.5 gm Bag Raspberry Red Mica Powder

(1) 2 fl. oz Amber & Oakmoss Fragrance Oil 544

(1) 1 Mold Ornaments Soap Mold (MW 02)

(1) 0.06 Pack (1/2 oz) Natural Raffia

Recipe Ingredients:

• 12 oz. Beeswax - Ivory
• 1/4 Teaspoon(s) Sparkle Dark Gold Mica Powder
• 1/4 Teaspoon(s) Raspberry Red Mica Powder
• 0.5 oz. Amber & Oakmoss Fragrance Oil 544

Equipment From Home:

• (1) Stove Top or Hot Plate
• (1) Metal Melting Pot
• (1) Measuring Spoons
• (1) Scale - Digital Display
• (1) Thermometer
• (1) Freezer
• (1) Scissors
• (1) 50 Each Wood Soap Dowel - 12 inch

Directions:

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.

1. Weigh 6 oz. of beeswax and place in metal pot for melting.
2. Place pot on heat source and heat on low until beeswax has completely melted.
3. Stir in 1/4 Teaspoon of Nutone Red Mica Powder. Stir well until the powder is disolved and there are no speckles. More color can be added to darken the wax, if desired.
4. Remove from heat and add 0.25 oz of Fragrance Oil and mix in well. 
5. Wax can be poured once the temperature has cooled to 150° F.
6. Place the mold on a scale and tare.  Pour 2 ounce of melted wax into each cavity
7. Once the wax has started to harden, place in a freezer for about 10-15 minutes. 
8. After they have set up, place upside down on a covered surface and let set at room temperature for about 5 minutes.    
9. Carefully press on the center of each cavity to release the ornaments. 
10. Reheat 6 ounces in the pot and melt.
11. Add 1/4 teaspoon of Shimmering Dark Gold Mica Powder and stir well.
12. Take wax off heat and add 0.25 ounces of fragrance and stir well.
13. Pour 2 ounces of wax into each cavity when the wax is around 150 degrees.
14. Repeat step 7 and 8.
15. With a dowel or skewer carefully poke a hole throught the top of the ornament and thread the raffia through. Tie in a knot.
16. Package as desired.
17. Label product accordingly.  A warning should be placed on label to keep ornaments out of heat or sunlight.

To Use: Hang ornaments on tree or use in car as air fresheners.
