NOTE: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soapmakers.
Prepare the lye solution by weighing the water and lye in two separate containers. Pour the lye into the water, carefully mix in a well-ventilated area and set aside to cool while you prepare your oils.
Melt the solid oils (coconut oil and cocoa butter) either by microwave or stovetop. Melt just until melted and no more.
Add the liquid oils (avocado and olive) to the melted oils to bring down the temperature. Add the fragrance oil, cocoa powder and red oxide to the oil mixture and stir.
Once the lye water has cooled down to 90°F, pour the lye solution into the oils.
With stick blender, blend until trace.
Pour the soap into your loaf mold. Mound the soap on the top of the loaf and tease with a spoon to make peaks.
Allow your soap to harden overnight and unmold the next day. If the soap is too soft to remove, allow soap to harden for an additional 24 hours.
When soap is removed from mold, cut into 1 inch slices.
Cure your soap for a minimum of 4 weeks.
To Use: Lather onto wet skin and rinse with warm water. Avoid contact with eyes.
