Directions:
WARNING: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline all safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soap makers.- Weigh water and sodium hydroxide into separate pitchers. Pour the Lye into the Water. Carefully mix in a well-ventilated area until lye has dissolved and set aside to cool.
- Add all the Oils and Butters to measuring cup and melt in the microwave or on stove top. Set aside.
- Fill Powder Sprayer with Activated Charcoal and set aside.
- When both the Lye mixture and the Oils are 120°F or below, mix Fragrance and Vanilla Color Stabilizer and allow to sit. Add Sodium Lactate to lye water and stir.
- Pour the Lye mixture into the Oils. Stick blend until you reach a thin trace. Add fragrance mixture and blend with a few short bursts until incorporated.
- Pour half of the batter into the mold and tap on counter to release any air bubbles.
- You can allow the batter to come to a thicker trace and texture the top, or leave it a straight line. Spray top with a fine mist of activated charcoal.
- Gently spoon the remaining batter on top of the charcoal layer and texture top as desired.
- Allow to set for 24 hours or longer until soap is firm enough to unmold. Unmold and slice in the direction of the pencil line (this prevents smearing). Let soap cure 4-6 weeks.
- Package and label accordingly.
To Use: Lather with water onto skin. Rinse off. Avoid contact with eyes.
