Directions:
WARNING: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline all safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soap makers.- Weigh the water and sodium hydroxide in two separate containers. Pour the Lye into the Water. Carefully mix in a well-ventilated area and set aside to cool.
- Melt Coconut Oil, Palm Kernel Flakes and Shea Butter in the microwave or on stove top. When melted completely, remove from heat and add Olive Oil. Set aside.
- Add one color to each funnel pitcher and add Sea Clay to a clean beaker. Add a small amount of melted oils to each and blend to remove clumps.
- When both the Lye mixture and the Oils are 120°F or below, mix Fragrance and Vanilla Color Stabilizer and allow to sit for at least 2 minutes. Add Sodium Lactate to lye water and stir.
- Pour the lye mixture into the oils. Stick blend until you reach a thin trace. Add fragrance mixture and blend with a few short bursts until incorporated.
- Fill each funnel pitcher with 6 oz. of soap batter and then add sea clay to the remaining batter. Blend each color with a few short bursts of the stick blender working from the lightest to the darkest color.
- Pour the sea clay soap into the mold and tap on the counter to smooth out and remove air bubbles.
- Fill each squeeze bottle with a different colored batter and twist on tops.
- Using the squeeze bottles make diagonal lines in alternating colors until the mold is filled to the top. Swirl the top by dragging a skewer back and forth from one end of the mold to the other.
- Allow to set for 24 hours or longer until soap is firm enough to unmold. Unmold and slice into bars. Let soap cure 4-6 weeks.
- Label accordingly.
To Use: Lather onto wet skin and rinse with warm water. Avoid contact with eyes.
