Customers love sugar scrubs for their gentle exfoliating properties, and cosmetic makers love them for how easy they are to make! In this short article we will discuss how to make this popular exfoliating scrub.
DIY Oil Based Sugar Scrubs
Oil Based Sugar Scrubs mix oils together with sugar to create an exfoliating scrub. Customers with dry skin will love these scrubs! The sugar gently sloughs off dead skin while the oils bind moisture to the skin. These are greasier than other types of scrubs, but they are also fantastic for adding moisture back to skin! Oil based scrubs sometimes settle over time, and may need to be stirred before being use.
(Optional) Add Preservative– If your scrub may be exposed to water, for example if you plan to store it in the shower, then you will also want to add a Preservative. Phenonip and Germaben II E are two preservatives that can be used for oil-based scrubs.
Mix Together
Package – Oil Based scrubs are typically packaged in a Jar with a Top with a Foam Liner. The liner prevents the oils from leaking out. A Press and Seal Liner also helps to keep the product from leaking. Finally, you may also like to include a Small Spatula since the scrub will need to be stirred before each use.
