What is Solid Perfume?

Solid perfume is a fragrant product that blends essential oils or fragrance oils with a solid base, typically made from beeswax or other natural waxes, combined with a carrier oil like jojoba or almond oil. This combination creates a portable and spill-proof perfume that can be applied directly to the skin. Solid perfumes are compact and convenient, making them an excellent choice for on-the-go scenting. They are also customizable, allowing you to create personalized scents that reflect your unique preferences. The making process involves melting the base ingredients, mixing in the fragrance, and then pouring the mixture into small containers to set?.

Supplies and Equipment NeededDirections
General fragrance oil percentages for solid perfumes are 10 – 15 %. I prefer to start with 10%, but you may need to adjust the amount somewhat if the fragrance oil you are using is on the strong side. Make a small amount to test your fragrance before committing to a large batch. You can visit our Percentage Calculator page if you need help calculating how much to use.

Step 1: Take the caps off each Slimline tube and make sure each “turning mechanism” is all the way down. Gently turn until it stops moving. These black tubes are a perfect way to add an elegant touch to your solid perfumes.

Step 2: Place a container on your scale and tare out the container (zero out the scale). Measure out 1 ounce of Natural Lip Balm Base.

Step 3: Slowly melt the base in a microwave for 30 seconds at a time until fully melted. Do not overheat! Slowly stir between each 30 seconds.

Step 4: Add 10% of your chosen body safe fragrance oil using a disposable pipette. This is approximately 3 mls.

Step 5: Stir slowly until fully incorporated. Taking a clean pipette, draw up the base and slowly start filling the Slimline tubes.

Step 6: Let the perfume completely cool and harden.

Step 7: Cap tubes and you’re done! How easy is that! If you’re going to make a large batch, using a lip balm tube filling tray is recommended for quick, easy filling.

Solid Perfume Uses

Solid perfume is versatile and can be used in various ways to enhance your fragrance experience. Primarily, it is applied to pulse points like the wrists, neck, and behind the ears, where the warmth of the skin helps to diffuse the fragrance throughout the day. Solid perfume can also be used to refresh your scent discreetly in public places, as it doesn’t require spraying. Additionally, these perfumes make excellent gifts and are perfect for travel due to their solid, spill-proof nature. Creating your own DIY solid perfume allows you to experiment with different fragrance combinations, ensuring you have a signature scent that is both unique and natural??.
