Annatto Seeds grow in the tropics and have a natural yellow color. They are loaded with Vitamins C, B's, and E. They contain wonderful amounts of antioxidants. This can be used to produce a natural orange/yellow color in soap and other bath products.

Directions:
DIRECTIONS: Incorporate into formula, amount as desired. Common use levels are 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon per pound of base. Test your final product to insure optimal performance and no staining. Not recommended for leave on products.
STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase. Keep out of reach from children and pets.
CAUTION: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and away from eyes. Do not inhale.

COMMENTS: I use this in my bath bombs and I love the orange color. However, I'm having trouble with the powder fully dissolving. So, I get orange specs in the bath bombs as well as the orange color. I put them in melted mango butter but it still doesn't dissolve that well.

COMMENTS: I purchased this annato seed powder to naturally color some of my products. I have used it often in several of my cold process soaps and lip balms. Always works well and can get a wide range of yellow to orange color depending on how much is used.

COMMENTS: I've had the most success with this by infusing it into olive oil. It is a beautiful orange color.
Added directly to soap, it is gritty and can be a pleasant exfoliator, but it tends to clump up if not dispersed well. It gives much less color added directly.

COMMENTS: I wasn't sure what to expect when I started using this. It was my first try using it and I really like the results. I used it in cold process with half the bar using this mixed with apricot kernel oil and the other half of the bar I used just calendula petals. The two look really great next to each other and give and great look to a more "natural" bar.

COMMENTS: I used this in cold process pumpkin soap. When I unmolded my soap, it was the perfect dark orange color I was hoping for but, over the next day or two, it turned a dark brown. My hubby said it looked like pumpkin pie after it was baked so it works but it was a bit disappointing after seeing the initial color. I will have to play with the amount I use - I will definitely still use it again!

COMMENTS: I used this in powder form in some CP. There are a few specks here and there because I did not infuse it first, but that is ok in my design. I love the buttery creamy yellow I got. I wanted to avoid going orange on this particular recipe. But I would like to go orange on the next one, so I will use a bit more. A little goes a very long way.

COMMENTS: This is one of the powders I recently invested in for natural colorants in my bath fizzies. The richness of the color it brought to my Pumpkin scented bombs WAS the bomb. COMMENTS: I used this in CPS for a natural colorant. I initially added 1 tsp to 1 tbsp Almond oil and whisked in a small glass jar to have ready for future use. When I used them this weekend, I was very happy to see the vibrant colors of nature and how well they held up through the gel phase. I am so glad I chose the natural route, these are wonderful.

COMMENTS: I use this in CP soap for a natural orange color. It produces a very vibrant orange! I infuse the olive oil with the powder at a rate of 2tsp/cup of oil for 2 hours in crockpot, strain with cheesecloth and then use the infused oil at a rate of 15% of total oils in the soap. Too much will turn your skin and the lather orange, so 15% is a good amount. Who needs synthetic colorants when you can go all natural with powders like this!

COMMENTS: This makes a gorgeous buttery yellow in CP soap. it's the only yellow shade I use. And a little annatto seed goes a long ways. I mix it with a little olive or sunflower oil, lightly heat in microwave and then let it steep until I'm ready to use it.
