Our Baby Buttermilk Melt and Pour Soap Base is a detergent free base that is white in color. It contains buttermilk, oatmeal, calendula extract, and real natural honey for exemplary moisturizing benefits. The two-pound tray is the perfect size container for projects making (8) 4 oz. bars of soap. The lid allows for unused soap to easily be stored for future use.

Directions:
MELT: Determine amount of melt and pour soap base needed for your project. Carefully slice soap base into small pieces and place in microwave safe container. Heat on low at 30 second intervals. Stir between intervals until liquid. Handle hot soap carefully as it may burn the skin. Soap can also be melted in a double boiler.
MOLD: Stir in cosmetic color, cosmetic scent, and skin safe additives. Pour into a Crafter's Choice mold. Spritz soap surface with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles. Allow to cool until hard.
ENJOY: Remove from mold and wrap with airtight plastic wrap. Your newly created melt and pour soap is now ready to use!
CAUTION: Melted soap is hot! For ages 15 and older.

"Not the best of Crafter's Choice" |

COMMENTS: I really wanted to love this M&P Buttermilk soap, but it just is below average. Even after letting it sit once poured in a rectangular mold after 48 hours it is still so soft you can almost bend it like rubber. Sure it feels wonderful on your skin, but with this soap being so very soft I don't believe customers are going to like it. First I poured it by itself, results soft after 48 hours, then I did 1/2 buttermilk and 1/2 goat milk, and the bar was still so soft after 48 hours. I just don't get it, all the other CS soaps are superior that I have tried, but this is just a real disappointment.

COMMENTS: So moisturizing, I washed with it and was blown away. I then used it for my 15-month-old baby and washed his hair with it too and omg I didn't think a baby could get any softer, even his hair was amazing. Showed his curls better!

COMMENTS: Not sure what everyone is so in love about. This soap feels like commercial soap but harsher. It strips my skin and makes my palms/fingers peel as if i've washed my hands 10 times in an hour. Bought this from the butterfly mp kit so my baby sister can participate 100% with me in soap making but I would rather her not ever touch the soap for any reason, or anyone in that matter.

COMMENTS: I was so impressed when I made my first soap using the baby buttermilk. I have very dry skin and many types of M&P still leave my skin feeling overly dry after use. This one does not! My hands feel so soft and silky after washing them with this base. It feels great, it smells great, and the color is a nice milky white. I will be using this soap from now on. COMMENTS: I usually use melt & pour for embeds only, but I wanted to make soap bunnies for Easter and didn't want to take a chance on CP, so I decided to try this base. I am so glad I did. It is tons better than the brands I have used in the past. It is smooth and creamy, and it melts quickly and evenly, which reduces the chance of burning your soap -- a definite plus! It remains fluid at relatively cool temps, and, overall, I find that it is a pleasure and a breeze to work with this base. In the future, when I have another melt & pour project I want to try, I will certainly purchase this again.

COMMENTS: I love this one. Buttermilk goes great with the spa salts. It also works great mixed with the charcoal soaps. This one is a softer soap than the 3 butters melt and pour. It works better if you mix the buttermilk base with the three butters or one of the white soap bases. this makes for a harder bar and still gives off the benefit of the buttermilk. I love this one. the name draws attention the customers too. this does not give the odor of buttermilk. no worries there.

COMMENTS: This is my go to base for baby shower themed soaps. I love the creaminess of this base and how easy it is to chop. Melts quick yet doesn't set up as quick as some MP bases I have used, so plenty of time to use it for multiple intricate mold detail filling using a syringe. I have seen others review it as a no sweat soap, but this last batch did sweat a small bit. You also have to watch for some orange spotting in the base, but easily removed. I can easily overlook those two things, though, since this is a great base.

COMMENTS: I used this to make melt & pour soap loaf.. I scented it in Love Spell, and added a layer of Glycerin soap on top. The buttermilk layer was very creamy and smooth, it held the fragrance well and no discoloration. There were no issues with melting it using the boiler method, I had time to add my fragrance before it set up and was able to let it cool some so that it didn't melt my embeds. Very satisfied!

COMMENTS: I love this soap! I got it as part of the Pet Shampoo bars kit, and wish I had ordered extra. It has a wonderfully silky texture and stays melted for a long time. This gave me plenty of time to work ingredients into it. I also liked the smell. It wasn't overly soapy to me. Usually, I am not a huge fan of melt and pour soaps, because I find them sticky. This seems to be less sticky than other ones.
This would be a good base to have on hand for a variety of projects. I plan to buy more and make more pet shampoo bars, as well as soaps for sensitive skins.
It takes color and scent well, too. A new favorite!

COMMENTS: I just wanted to say how wonderful the Detergent Free Baby Buttermilk base is because it is the ONLY soap other than a Dove bar for sensitive skin, which is NOT detergent free btw, that my husband who has had extreme eczema for all his life, can use! I also have a customer who says she doesn't have to put lotion on herself after she showers because the soap is so softening to her skin! I absolutley love it for the skin softening properties and the yummy subtle milky fragrance. I make primarily children's soaps and I feel so very confident in letting mom's know how wonderful this soap is for kids...my 2 year old grandsons have been using it for months now too! Highly recommend!

COMMENTS: This makes a very creamy, moisturizing bar of soap however I'm not seeing lather. I did mix this with the detergent free three butter m&p and added colloidal oatmeal, bamboo extract and pumpkin pie spice to the mixture so to be fair it may be the additives taking away the lather. I've got quite a bit to try a batch without additives so I'll see if that np makes a difference. EXTREMELY PLEASED with the amount of time I had to work with this at low temperatures. This is my first try not using an all natural only oils and lye m&p and I will say it would allow you plenty of time for swirling and embeds. Other soap starts turning to thick glue around 130 but this stated nice and liquid all the way down to 115 F. LOVE that aspect as I make a 20 layered swirled bar where I swirl each layer with a different color and pour one on top of the other. Last holiday it was a nightmare because I had to keep reheating soap and the layer would cool before I could pour the next. Can't wait to try this for that loaf!! Oh! This is quite soft so it takes a few dats to harden unlike some m&p that is virtually ready in a few hours. I don't mind this tho.

COMMENTS: I am just getting into making my own products and decided that, for now, I want to work with melt and pour soaps. I very much needed a gentle soap for my son, and this has worked perfectly well for that too, but what I love it for even more is my face. It makes a very gentle, softly lathering cleanser that doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dried out. I kept it pretty simple and added some ground rosemary and lavender along with a bit of rose absolute and lemon essential oil. The ground up items make for a nice bit of exfoliation and my skin looks super toned and smooth when I'm finished. Will definitely be getting this again.

This leaves your skin (and hair) feeling squeaky clean but does not dry either out. My skin does not have that tight, dry feeling, and my hair is shiny, and very manageable.... I accidentally got some in my eyes one day, and true to its name, it is Detergent Free and did not burn my eyes at all !!! Will continue to purchase this as I have for the last 1 1/2 yrs.

COMMENTS: I finally got a tray of the baby buttermilk for my fiance to use as a skin-friendly base for her and our baby boy. It worked very well for us with almost no sweating but one thing we did notice is that is wouldn't readily receive as much fragrance oil as some of the other bases. Overall its a very soothing base that performs well even on infant skin but you have to be careful to not add too much fragrance oil.

COMMENTS: I like the texture and feel of the soap. It lathers well in my sugar scrub cube recipes, although the faint smell of milk seems to come through the FO I am using. I have tried 2 different FO's so far and they both have a milky smell. I will be saving this soap base for my oatmeal milk & honey products.

I had purchased clear M&P soap from a big craft supplier but it has a yellowish tinge to it, so you can imagine my concern from an unknown source. COMMENTS: I used this base to make little tea tree facial soap bars, for acne prone skin. When I tested the first batch, I was astonished by how smooth and soft my skin was right away. I also had my sister sample it. She has very sensitive acne prone skin and has had trouble finding soap that doesn't irritate it. She loved this soap too and had no drying or irritation. COMMENTS: This has been a great addition to my products. It is incredible how soft your skin feels after using this. Especially for customers with problem skin, this base seems to work well. The base is softer and not as easy to work with as others but I think this is because of its contents. It does require a little more work when taking your soaps out of the molds. I did not rate it down because I don't feel it is a flaw but rather due to the properties of this base which make it wonderful for your skin....kind of a trade off. Definitely a keeper.

COMMENTS: I have to say that this base is quickly surpassing goat milk as my favorite white base to work with. The color is whiter than goat milk (which to me has a slightly yellower hue), and I like the natural scent a little better. That said, I do wish that it did not contain oatmeal or calendula. I would really prefer the melt and pour bases to be single bases without any additives since I like to customize my soaps myself.

COMMENTS: Oh my goodness but was I in awe the first time I tried this soap!!! lol I make many skin care products using the best oils and butters I can find but this one bar of soap made my skin feel like silk. It smells wonderful and I did add a bit of vanilla FO to it. I will order it again because everyone who tries a sample is goning to want to buy a nice fat bar of it.

COMMENTS: I've tried all the bases and this is, by far, my favorite opaque base. It lathers luxuriously and I can't remember the last time that I used lotion on my hands and body...my skin stays nice and hydrated with this base. It takes color and fragrance well and works well as a shampoo bar, too. I have had multiple skin problems and this soap has virtually eliminated them all...the richest, gentlest soap I have ever used. I look forward to washing my hands now!
