COMMENTS: This was very polarizing for my friends and family. I think it smells like dirt in the way dirt smells like decay, I had it curing in a closet offy bedroom and more than once woke up in the middle of the night thinking I'd be buried alive because of the smell. My mother thought it smelled like cat urine and mildew, my BIL thought it smelled like a forest floor, a friend thought it smelled like blue algae on a lake, the friends made it for thought it smelled like a cave and exactly what they wanted when they asked for a dirt smelling soap.

COMMENTS: If you’ve ever had an aquarium, this scent smells exactly like aquarium water. Earthy, mossy, wet, with a very slight bacterial note. The comparison to fresh dirt is shockingly accurate!
It behaves well and is quite strong. I actually had to dial it down with one of my soaps because it was overpowering my florals! This fragrance isn’t for everyone, but I’m sure some would love this.

"Was Good Not So Lately" |

COMMENTS: I used to order this to make a lot of hunting sprays for several clubs. It was awesome! The last 3 orders the scent is extremely mild if at all. It has more of the base carrier smell. I had product returned due to the lack of aroma. I reach out to the company and I am waiting on them to get back with me as to why the change. The change is very noticeable, I use to open one large bottle and it would almost run you out of the room now you have to wave your hand over the bottle and maybe get a small whiff of the dirt smell. I don't know if they diluted it, changed the formula, or change their raw supplier. Hopefully, I will get a response soon as to the issue. I am patiently waiting as I love crafters choice products. I also hope that whatever the reason for the change it goes back to the original scent. Hope this was helpful.

COMMENTS: Just finished up a batch of cold process soap. I colored it brown, so discoloration was not an issue. NO ACCELERATION, RICING, or SEPARATION. The smell is exactly like soil. I just made a plain brown loaf. In future I may try a grass scent to put on top to look like a shovelful of lawn.

COMMENTS: This FO smells just like dirt. I bought it after reading the reviews since there are a lot of hunters in my area. Did MP soap in a camo pattern and it almost sold out at my first craft show of the season. Many wives were buying it for their hunting husbands/brothers/sons, and a few ladies bought them as gag gifts for their grandkids (a sale is a sale in my book!). I didn't expect it to do so well, I'm pleasantly surprised!

It smelled like a mushroom picked from a rotting log after a heavy rain. I was going to throw it away but after reading all the positive reviews I decided to give it a chance in CP soap. COMMENTS: This scent is not my favorite the smell of wet dirt is a bit strong, however I have been getting a lot of demands for soap and lotions with this scent from local hunters. They love this scent and its a big hit so I'll be getting more in the future.

I love the scent as well...it smells just like fresh turned earth! COMMENTS: The fragrance of "Dirt" is just that... dirt. It smells like rich, freshly turned soil. It reminds me of working in the garden. Great alone, or mixed with a variety of other fragrances for unique blends that are very appealing. When I am asked "what is this amazing scent?" I often get eye buldges when I start naming the blend of fragrances and get to the "dirt" scent. If you're looking for something clean, but not clean, get dirty with dirt.

COMMENTS: Right out of the bottle this reeked of bitter horseradish to me, it's my least favorite fragrance oil i ordered. I realize that the scent will likely mellow out and/or change after soaping though, so i still have hope. The thing is, after showing my bf all the fragrance oils, this was his favorite one! You should have seen his eyes light up the instant he got a whiff! "This smells just like dirt! like gardening! ( i swear, he didn't read any of the countless reviews that state exactly that). He was laughing and grinning like a kid, while he relayed memories of childhood projects with his dad. While we both really loved all the fragrances we ordered, none evoked such feelings of nostalgia like this dirt fragrance. I still don't really smell dirt, but his excitement is good enough for me.

To me, it smells more like swamp peat moss than dirt, but it could still pull off that 'graveyard dirt' name.
Used in tiny amounts, it might make for an interesting earthy undertone for stronger, mixed scents.

Now someone would ask them-self, why in the world would I want to smell like dirt? You are not alone, I asked my self the same thing initially. However, out of curiosity I ordered a small bottle. COMMENTS: Still shaking my head over this fragrance, but I had to buy it to see for myself. LOL....it is indeed ripe, fresh DIRT. That being said, I really like it blended with something else...I blend it with a fir fragrance for my Mountain Man CP soap and it really comes out well. I have also blended it with Rain for a really nice garden soap. It goes well with Cotton.....it makes for some interesting soaps...more along the masculine lines, but a great conversation starter for soap.

COMMENTS: This is a fantastic, clean, peaty type soil scent. I honestly didn't think it would sell, but it made a fantastic gag-gift type soap as well as hunting soap. It flew off the shelves! Definitely not offensive smelling in anyway, and does not smell like "dirty" dirt, but clean, fresh black top soil. Will be buying a big bottle to blend with. COMMENTS: I love this scent. I mix it as a base note in my earthy, more herbal men's soaps. It goes well with Black Amber Musk and Cedar. I use it in hot process soap and it doesn't seize the soap. Every time someone smells a soap that I made with this scent, even if it's layered with another scent, they eventually notice the "dirt" smell and mention it's fresh earthy goodness!

"4 Stars for an EXACT scent!" |

COMMENTS: I was hesitant to try this...very hesitant. But, I am very - VERY glad I did. This FO smells absolutely like wet, soggy, mossy, earthy DIRT/MUD. It soaped amazingly well for CP, no problems at all. Made a soap called "Earthling" with brown and blue, and green soap ribbons on top to simulate grass. It was a huge success, still curing, but smells great and created a truly adorable soap. I may do this one again on a special order basis, but it for sure deserves 4 stars :-)

COMMENTS: I made some HP soap using this fragrance. While I didn't like the way it made my soap kitchen smell, it was just what the hunters wanted. It really does smell just like a freshly opened bag of potting soil or a freshly tilled garden. Hunters use it to mask their human scent when hunting. The soap sold well at my craft booth. I will definitely be keeping this one in stock.

COMMENTS: Give it a shot. It's a great, great base with other, sweeter fragrances. Smells like moss, and very curt, acrid peet. Disperses well, as in it smells pretty weird (a little sour/strong) in the bottle but amazing when diluted in bath fizzes, salts, etc. Agree with a person who said it reminds them of the Demeter fragrance line. It reminds me of the "Clean" perfume that came in the green bottle, I think it's discontinued. Great "green" notes. Love it.

COMMENTS: First of all, this smells amazing. Yes, it smells like dirt, but not dirty - it's like fresh potting soil. It reminds me of those Demeter fragrances that were so popular that had weird scents, they totally had a dirt one & a grass one, etc. The thing is, this makes a really wonderful, earthy base scent, even if you don't want something to smell like dirt. I took some of this dirt fragrance, mixed it with fresh cut grass (the combo of just those 2 together is really awesome btw), then added oak moss, because that stuff smells amazing, threw in a little clean cotton scent & topped it off with a bit of fig. This created a really incredible, really high-end kind of scent. I turned it into a soy candle for my best friend, who loves these scents separately, but when mixed together, it was like magic - the end result actually smells just like a candle she has in her home that she loves, so it was clearly fate. I brought it with me to work so I could drop it off at my best friend's house afterward, & every one of my coworkers say it's their favorite scent of all my candles. I am definitely going to try more combinations with this stuff! It's so good!

COMMENTS: This smells like what it is supposed to smell like. It smells like dirt, with just the faintest hint of beetroot. But definitely dirt. It smells so much like dirt, in fact, that I was horrified when a drop spilled on my dog (my nice, freshly cleaned dog). She now smells like she has been rolling around in a bag of potting soil. This FO is pretty strong. It sticks (dear goblins, does it ever stick, to EVERYTHING!), and it's pungent, so you won't need to add a whole lot of this to your products. It's certainly going to be interesting, working it in to the new product line!

COMMENTS: This is definitely dirt - good dirt, not like poopy, manure dirt. This smells like you walked into the woods and dug down into the soil under a tree: awesome, fresh, forest earth. This is great for soaps aimed at hunters or even a spray scent for hunters. It's also great combined with fir, pine, etc. This isn't for everyone but, given the right audience, very popular, even if only for a man gag gift.

COMMENTS: I hate it, but it smells just like it is suppose to. Very strong too. I had to cure the bars outside to keep the smell out of the house. I also keep these wrapped twice to keep from smelling them.
However, the first bar I sold was to a women who just liked the smell.

COMMENTS: I gave it 4 stars because it does smell exactly like dirt. I tried blending it with a rose for a "fresh cut" type of fragrance, as suggested in another review, but it smelled awful. Perhaps I used too much Dirt. I can't use it in my Hunting Soap because I prefer to make that all-natural. Still looking for a way to use this because it is so novel.

COMMENTS: Crafter's Choice really nailed this scent! It is strong, heady, and very dirty! I would strongly recommend this scent. I am not sure how others use or combine, but we created a gardener's's soap for our farmer's market collection and combined it with some other fragrance oils moderately since we were just looking for a hint of dirt.

COMMENTS: What can one say about a fragrance call "Dirt"? It is absolutely SPOT on. I've been carrying this for years and it is the one fragrance that always invokes the question "how did you do that?" I tried calling it "Earth" for a while but dirt just seemed better. Works great in soap, which is cool for a novelty item (you can wash with Dirt and get clean!) or for hunters who spray often put this fragrance on themselves before going out. Makes a great fragrance for gardners who miss the smell of soil in the winter. This is as true to life as they come. Perfection!

COMMENTS: My husband and I were truly delighted when we took a whiff of CC's "Dirt" FO 141 .. we both agreed that it is absolutely dead-on DIRT, but not in a way that would leave you put-off. This smells exactly like good, fresh out-of-the-bag potting soil. There are a lot of possibilities here. I plan on using this with evergreen tree & woody scent(s) this week for a true "tree farm" experience in my CP soap for the holidays & winter months ahead, but combining it with citrus, floral or fruity scents could easily evoke a walk thru an orchard or garden after watering.. or with berry scents, which would hopefully remind me of utilizing you-pick farms years ago in California. Nearly limitless possibilities ahead! I mean.. dirt is everywhere, right? Not just solely under grass! =D

COMMENTS: I have to admit that I don't think the Dirt Fragrance Oil smells great. However, my husband thinks it is the best thing. We made soap for him and his fellow hunting buddies. It really does smell like potting soil. He has high hopes that it will mask his human scent. This fragrance oil was easy to work with. We used three different colors in order to make it look like camouflage. We didn't have any problems at all. Now we have to see if it will help bring in the big buck!

COMMENTS: This one is a definite keeper!! A STRONG scent !! I made a camo colored CP soap with this fragrance and it is fantastic!! it soaped very well and does smell exactly like clean dirt !!! I can't wait to take this one to my craft fair . Men and kids particularly really like this scent. My picky husband even likes this one!! It has a fresh note along with the deep ,rich scent of freshly turned dirt :) LOVE IT !! I would suggest no more than 5% in CP

COMMENTS: We used this scent at 5% in CP soap. It did not accelerate trace. It did not cause any discoloring. It really does smell like dirt. Fresh soil, in fact. We added poppy seeds and it has a great scrubby feel with the fresh soil smell. It has gotten two reactions from our customers, "eeewwwww!!" or "WOW!! this smells like the real thing, how did you do it?"
People either love it or hate it. We found that when it is wet, it seems stronger and even more dirt-like.

COMMENTS: I use this product for niche markets (hunters, gardeners, geologist trade shows) and everyone always exclaims how realistic it is. It is also good mixed with a little Cedarwood EO for a deeper woodsy smell! It is also long-lasting, I found a bar of MP soap in a corner that was at least four years old, and it still smelled great! (I wrap my MP soap in plastic wrap.)

COMMENTS: This is amazing. It smells just like being in the woods after a big rain and the smell of the dirt. I made bubble bath with the snake toys in it with this fragrance and it is awesome. Nope, didn't make it for kids I made it for myself. It looks sooooo cute sitting in the bathroom and when I take a bath the whole room smells.

COMMENTS: This fragrance is dead-on to the real thing...damp dirt and leaves and potting soil. I bought this to use in a soap targeted for hunters and outdoorsmen. The look on people's faces is priceless when you tell them you have a soap that smells like dirt. That weird look turned into a smile though when I told them I made the soap for hunters. Genius! The FO behaved very well. It didn't accelerate or discolor or seize or anything. If you want something fun, give it a try.
