"Lovely scent but DID accelerate on me" |
COMMENTS: Bought this at the behest of a wholesale customer who loves the scent of quince. Just poured, so jury is still out on how it cures/sells. I soap with a 35% lye concentration (a water discount) with any fragrance oil that is easy to work with. I chose to do that with this one on my test run, even though I know better, because a lot of the reviews said it didn't accelerate. That was NOT the case for me. I generally soap at around 90 degrees. This was plop in the mold thick between the time I had just barely reached trace and the time I got it into the mold (one color - pale green mica throughout). So...just a heads up, use full water with your first test run on this one. Smells awesome.

"smelled more culinary than floral " |
COMMENTS: As expected, this had a slightly artificial smelling fragrance. There was a part in there that almost captured the true fragrance of quince, but I can also smell lesser notes of caramel and cotton candy, kind of sweet and fruity. The odor has a very tiny amount of acetone and formaldehyde-like smell, and can seem to have a little bit of banana scent. All this is perfectly normal, considering the types of fragrance chemicals that would typically go into something like this. The smell was ever so slightly musky and cloying, but this is true of most fragrance oils; the intended purpose is to help extenuate the overall fragrance, because a fragrance like quince by itself would be very light and inane. In this sense, it's not a really a clean floral quince smell; rather it's more of a sweet fruity candy smell. It smells more like cooked preserved quince in sweet brandy than freshly sliced quince. They did cautiously label this a "pear-quince" fragrance, but in all fairness I would say it does smell more like "quince" than pear. It's not a bad smell for soap, but I don't think it would be the best for perfume. I know quince fragrance can be very hard to find, so maybe it's not fair to be too critical.

"Nice enough" |
COMMENTS: I purchased several pear fragrances at one time, per customer request. I do like this fragrance in the products better than just out of the bottle. Nice pear fragrance but I do like the other two pear fragrances better....as did my "pear" customer.

"Sophisticated, Great in CP!" |
COMMENTS: Out of the bottle I was a bit put back, put I know not to trust that. This is a lovely pear scent, tart and tangy with a touch a kiwi floating around in there making things perfect. I am a huge pear fan, I would use this in any product and keep it all to myself if I could. I made a coconut Milk CP batch and had no issues like ricing or accelerating. Just great smelling soap. I did a green shimmer mica with the poppy seeds and light gold stands here and there. I used it ever so slightly in a face cream for myself and a few body butters to try out at the next show. It's an inviting scent, very comforting to the senses. Looks like I found another one to add to my year round list. Thanks!

"Pear Quince in Cold Process" |
COMMENTS: This fragrance performed beautifully in my cold process soap base, with no acceleration or ricing. The scent is very strong and smells delicious! I used just a teeny bit of French Green Clay and Green oxide - a speck really, to make my pretty pear color, and used French Pink clay for the quince color - illusions that make a lasting impression on customers. My soap mold is 42 ounces, so I used 2 ounces of the fragrance and it produced a moderately strong scent that does not knock you down. The clay seems to work quite well with fragrances that have a little vanilla. It has not discolored. My customers do not want chemicals or dyes, so I find ways to make a product look good even though it may discolor a bit. This one is soft green and pink. Beautiful!
