"Nice unisex scent, accelerates, discolors" |
COMMENTS: I loved this fragrance OOB. Once CP soaped, the smell of rosewood not as distinct almost verging on the scent of lavendar. I used recipe of 23% olive oil, 25% coconut oil, 33 % tallow, 10% castor oil, 5% sunflower oil, and 4% shea butter. I soaped at 108 degrees. After emulsion, I added nurture soaps brown mocha mica & seisso red for a beautiful reddish brown (like rosewood..). I added the Rosewood fragrance and stick blended to a pretty light trace. I poured it into the mold, it was like a very thin cake batter. There was still about 1/4 cup of batter left in the cup. I set this aside and started working on a different color for the next mold. I looked over, and the reddish brown soap had turned a sangria or plum color (still a nice color but not reddish brown.) I looked at the 1/4 cup leftover in the cup, it was the texture of shea butter at room temperature- so hard but soft enough to mold with fingers. I quickly scooped chunks out with a metal spoon and dropped into a small mold. I poured the other batters around it (white and - irony- reddish brown.) So, I was able to use what I think was a seized batter. Looked great unmolded (the other batters had merlot fragrance), so they complimented each other. In less than 10 minutes or so, the plum/sangria soap had a very thin greyish coat on top. I sprayed it with alcohol. I don't think it was soda ash, though. I'll see what happens as it cures. I will continue to experiment with this Rosewood since it has a nice, unisex scent (a little lavendar but more woodsy.) But, definitely, must pour REALLY thin.

"Big Disappointment" |
COMMENTS: I read the reviews carefully, so I didn't see this one coming. Nothing exotic in the formula, just your regular oils. I soap at 100 degrees. I didn't get more then a few teaspoons of scent in the pitcher, the seizure was that sudden.

"Nice Scent" |
COMMENTS: I honestly don't know what natural rosewood essential oil smells like, so I can't give you a good comparison there. But I do really like this scent. It is a perfect base note for a lot of blends I make. It makes scents that feel thin and gives them a rich fullness.
