White Kaolin Clay is a cosmetic clay used in cold process soap, bath bombs and masks. This clay can be used on normal, dry and sensitive skin because it does not draw oils from the skin. It is also a very mild clay that works as a thickening agent. Kaolin clay is one of the most common cosmetic clays!

Directions:
DIRECTIONS: Incorporate into formula, amount as desired. Common use levels are 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon per pound of base. If making a face mask, the common use level is 50-75%. Test your final product to insure optimal performance.
STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase. Keep out of reach from children and pets.
CAUTION: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and away from eyes. Do not inhale.

COMMENTS: Great product at a great price. Adds silkiness to my CP soaps. My soaps are a little whiter when I use this in unpigmented soap (1 tablespoon PPO). I do mix it with olive oil from my recipe to prevent clumps, and add into oils before lye water.

To avoid this I always place my kaolin in a small separate bowl and add a bit of one of my liquid ingredients, either glycerin or oil or some of my melted m&p, and make a paste first. I then dilute it further w/ more liquid until it’s thin enough to easily mix into my base. This method is great for all clumping dry ingredients.

COMMENTS: I purchased this to help harden my bath bombs and it worked like a charm!! Since I started using this product, I have noticed that it makes them dry out a lot faster than before I tried this! My mixture was starting to slightly harden while still in the bowl before I could even get it into the mold! Once molded, my bath bombs would be completely dry in less than 8 hours versus the 3 day wait time I had before trying this product!! Huge improvement!! When I first tried to add this in my bath bomb recipe, I thought coconut oil would be enough to use as a wetting agent so I didn’t bother adding anything else but noticed that my bath bombs weren’t harden at all even after allowing them to set over night. They were still soft so I took the whole entire batch of bath bombs, broke them all down in a bowl, added witch hazel and remolded them all and BINGO!!! They all immediately started to harden!! I won’t skip this ingredient from now on because of what a difference it makes for harder bath bombs! It also makes the water a creamy color and feels awesome on my skin!

COMMENTS: I use this in my CP soap to improve slip and to help anchor scent. My trick is to put it in with my fragrance or essential oil for 15 minutes prior to adding to my soap and the clay will absorb a lot of the scent into itself to help the scent stick better. I use this in all of my facial masks. It's gentle and great for all skin types. The only difference I make is in how much I use in a facial mask (i.e. for oily skin I will use much more clay in the formula than I do for sensitive or mature skin.). Sometimes for marketing I will mix the kaolin with rassoul or French green clay but I find kaolin clay does the trick for all of my formulas. My best seller is a kaolin clay mask with activated charcoal and tea tree. People love it.

COMMENTS: We use this in all of our bath bombs as a hardening agent. Before using clay they would break apart. This is an off white almost light grey color but when mixed in with other ingredients we still get a true white bath bomb. Also great add for marketing.

COMMENTS: I've tried other brands of kaolin clay, and they do add hardness to my soap, exfoliation, and slip. This brand adds slip, but the exfoliation is much milder. As for the hardness, it does that but also feels SILKY at the same time. The powder is much finer, and incorporates into the batter better. Overall I love this clay, and I will not use any other brand.

COMMENTS: The first thing that hooked me was the price! I had to re-read the size you get for the price listed. I ordered anyway but did not expect a sound product (meaning, either the package would be cheap, quality not so good, etc.) but...This exceeded my expectations and I am quite happy with my purchase. The clay was of smooth texture and I used immediately for my first bath bomb batch. I also use this personally in my homemade face primer and bath soak. Only issue I will have is when it is all gone :)

COMMENTS: I used this for the first time for my first project. I purchased the stress less bath/shower tabs. This worked great and I was surprised that they dried a lot faster than when I had made them without it. The only issue is that some of the tabs would have like a crack on the sides. As this was my first time making them, I will attribute that to operator error lol. But seriously, it was great! I used one of the tabs that didn't make the "Surgery" and it still worked fine. Skin still felt soft and the bath experience was wonderful. I will be using this clay from now on in my bath/shower tabs.

COMMENTS: I have tried both the rose clay and this one and I did see a noticeable difference on how the 2 dried. I feel like the rose clay dried much harder than the white did even when adding larger quantities of the white clay to the same recipe. This tends to dry a bit "gummy" and not solid like I'd like it to.

COMMENTS: I've used this clay for many cold process soap recipes, and it's great. It lends hardness to the bar, helps to keep a white color in soap. You need to be aware that it does seem to accelerate trace for me. Not enough to seize the batter, but you'll want to have everything ready to pour once you get this clay incorporated. I think it makes the soap bars seem sturdier, I'm really happy with it. It is a true white clay, and doesn't change color once you add it to the soap batter.

COMMENTS: I mostly use kaolin clay to give slip to shaving soaps. (For m&p mix a small amount of melted soap with the clay until smooth, then add it to the rest of the batch blend well, and strain if needed at the end). I've found that it's a great filler in mineral makeup and bath truffles too. I've also mixed some kaolin with coconut milk to make a simple facial mask. Finally, a little clay added to my butters helps smooth them out and leave them less greasy. This is a nice light weight clay that works in bb items many for different purposes. Always keep kaolin on hand!

COMMENTS: First, I'll state that I love how easily the clay blends into my CP soap and deodorants. I am, however, a little confused by the fact that it turns green when I add it in. I've never had kaolin clay do this before. I almost think I might have inadvertently received bentonite. The clay is pretty white when dry, but when added to my oils, it turns everything green. The green is "hijacked" by other additives in my CP soap, but deodorants remain green.

COMMENTS: Kaolin Clay is excellent for helping to anchor "hard-to-hold" scents in cold process (CP) soap. I find that it also adds a certain "glide" factor in the soap that everyone seems to enjoy. I have also found that it is beneficial in helping harden bath fizzies. I think that this product is a definite "must-have" additive for any CP soap-maker. I can't imagine making my soap and bath products without it.

COMMENTS: I've ordered kaolin from other sources, and they are not all alike. This is my favorite, the softest, whitest, finest mesh powder. Great price too! Fantastic in masks, especially for older skin and rosacea. I think a kaolin mask will be a staple in my line.

COMMENTS: I feel like it's hard to go wrong with a product like this, but either way it's great. I haven't noticed a difference when I use it in CP soap, but it's great for reducing the greasiness of lotion bars and body butters. I like to mix a little bit of this with enough lemon juice to make a paste and then wash my hair with that. I'll definitely buy it again, in the 5 pound size.

COMMENTS: Works great in cold process soap for anchoring top notes and provides a nice soap feel. While my skin isn't particularly sensitive and this is touted as the gentlest type of clay for masks, it turned my skin red as a beet for about an hour. Afterwards, my skin felt great! So who knows...

COMMENTS: I originally bought the kaolin clay for use in hardening my bath bombs and it did an awesome job with it. Since I had plenty left to use (a little goes a long way) I started experimenting with adding it to my foaming bath whip and made shaving soap. It provided that extra slip that I was looking for. the bentonite clay does in my oily skin mask,,,,But then I discovered that it makes a terrific mens exfoliation bar soap for those itchy fellows who dont like to use lotions!!! Just need to add a bit of oil or butter to your soap recipe to keep it from being drying,,,,and it is Truly Perfect.. Its begun a new craze for my male clients as long as the shea is added..

COMMENTS: I live in a humid area and was having a tough time getting bath bombs to mold nicely. This clay (based on the amounts used in the bath fizzy recipe on this site) helped harden the bombs up nicely and the pop out of the molds whole and no more loss due to breakage.

COMMENTS: I bought this for an ingredient when someone asked me for face masks. I always try my products before letting my customers use them. I tried this straight mixed with water, and slathered it all over my face. I have combination skin (oily T-zone, dry everywhere else) It did not dry my skin out like some reviews said, and it actually made my pores look smaller! Something I had thought was impossible after battling the issue for years. I will be adding some botanicals and oils to it and making a mud mask. I love the price and will definitely be ordering more, I'm sure the 25lbs I ordered will be all used up very soon. Also, it has a light faint smell that reminds me of white chalk.

COMMENTS: I use this in my CP soaps, but really love a bit of it in my body butters. I add just a touch to tighten up the oil factor of my body butters. You don't need a lot, and let your butter sit a day or two, and you get a firmer product, perfect for filling into jars. (I don't know about lotons, so caution)

COMMENTS: High quality kaolin. I love this and will be ordering more. Works great in bath products. Incorporates easily. The clay color is also easy to work with. A little titanium dioxide to bring it back to white, works well, but leaving it clay color and adding other pigments gives a great "earthy" look to products.
