Triple pressed palm Stearic Acid that is cosmetic grade. Stearic Acid is commonly used to emulsify lotions made from scratch. This can also be used in candle manufacturing to raise the melt point and improve the hardness of candle wax.

"Leaves Spots/Doesn’t Melt Down" |

COMMENTS: I use stearic acid in my recipe for whipped soap/shaving soap from scratch, and I bought a large bag of this but I wish I hadn’t. ?? I was using stearic acid from Amazon prior to this, and that was pressed into small beads. The small beads would melt all the way when cooking my base formula for the soap, but these flakes are just not great. It doesn’t matter how long I cook my base, and it doesn’t matter how hot I cook it, I’m always left with stearic acid spots. Most of the time you can’t feel them, but some of the time you can and when that happens I can’t sell it. It does thicken the product but it just doesn’t melt.

COMMENTS: Did does what it is supposed to do. Works well as a co-emulsifier and thickener. And the price for the amount you get is amazing. It realy does make a thick cream consistency. My only complaint wasn't worth taking off a star since that's just how the product is. I wasn't fond of the drag. I prefer cetyl alcohol over this because it has more glide and slip.
Again, that's just a characteristic of stearic acid that you can't really change. Some people can't even tell there is drag. It's probably something you notice more after using cetyl alcohol. It works well when you want a product you can feel for hours after you've put it on. A little goes a long way. I would recommend it in a foot cream or lotion meant for winter. Combine it with cetyl alcohol if you want more options.
I plan on trying to make my own foaming bath whip with it. And maybe combine it with carnauba wax to make a lip balm that isn't as hard but with some decent staying power (and a creamier consistency). Stearic acid is a staple in making lotions. I recommend having either stearic or cetyl alcohol in your lotion making pantry. Either one is essential. Both gives more options.

COMMENTS: I added this in at 5% to my hot process recipe. The bars are great. They're high quality, hard, and lather well. I've had no problem with this melting either. I simply wait until my liquid is clear in the crockpot before adding lye. It blends well and is a great addition to a standard bar of soap.

COMMENTS: I bought Crafters Choice Stearic Acid to use when I was still new to soaping. I've only used it twice, but it did do the trick as far as creamier lather. Make sure to soap on the hot side with stearic acid (if using it in your soap recipes), or you will get white stearic flecks. This one has a high melt point.

COMMENTS: I made shave soap for the first time today, and it requires stearic acid. I used this stearic acid and coconut oil with KOH in a crockpot and let it do its thing. The soap came out amazing and with a lot of lather. Note that stearic has a high melting point so it's best to melt it in a bowl over hot water or something similar. Excellent quality

COMMENTS: I bought a bunch of this to start trying to make a shave soap. Reading around on the forums, Stearic Acid is a staple in most shave soaps. I really do enjoy working with this in HP shave soap using KOH. I haven't created just the right recipe yet, but it will definitely have a high percentage of Stearic Acid. The packaging, color, texture of this product as delivered is very satisfying to play with. I am hoping to try it in lotions and more when I have time. The only thing that I'm not a fan of, is that it's derived from palm, which I've been trying to avoid.

I've whipped it about 3 times & it's still thick! That good due to the warm weather coming but I would prefer for it to be a bit softer. Next batch, I'll use less

COMMENTS: I've been experimenting with a curl custard for natural hair & the addition of this product finally got the formula I was trying to the correct texture that I wanted. Worked amazing on my own hair! I have also used it in my body butters & honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between the addition of it along with e-wax then that of my original formula with beeswax. That said, I have played with making lotion from scratch multiple times & never with any success until I used this in conjuction with e-wax. It is a must for lotions, but also I love the result of its addition to hair moisturizers & conditions. You must try! Melts very quickly & is very easy to measure & use.

I've also used it to harden CP soap and it worked great for that as well, I just dissolved 1oz PPO of the stearic acid into a little bit of water, along with a pinch of white sugar and add it at trace. Hardens the bars and boosts the lather! Perfect

COMMENTS: Initially, I did not know how to successfully use this product. However, after trial and error my end result was amazing! I used Stearic Acid in my lotion and hair conditioners along with my emulsifying wax soft and silky, needless to say the end result was thick and creamy. I absolutely loved the texture and my customers did as well! Definitely a much needed ingredient in my products.

COMMENTS: I use this to increase the hardness and longevity of certain Cold Process soap recipes when my oils are softer. I've found that .5% is perfect. I melt it in a double boiler first, then add it to my base oils after I add everything else, it causes it to setup quicker so move faster when working with it. Makes bars significantly harder. NOT a good thing to try and use this if making Soap Cupcakes or anything you are planning to pipe. I tried that once...didn't work too well ;-)

COMMENTS: I usually add about 1/2 t per 3.5 oz bar of M&P soap to make it harder- and this stuff is great! I add it while melting the soap base and have had zero issues with it emulsifying. It does however make bars "murky"- so if you want a totally clear bar, I would forgo it, however I add it to 99% of my bars. It is what I consider a staple ingredient and this is quality stuff. "Great product! Adds Lather & Hardness to Soaps" |

COMMENTS: Love this product! Using this product produces a beautiful hard bar of soap with lots of lather. Requires a very small amount. Highly recommend this product. It will definitely improve your soap bars.
This product can be added directly to oils when they are hot. However it does take awhile to melt. Do not microwave this or it will harden like a rock. I found this out the hard way.
