Sodium Lactate is used to harden cold process soap while minimizing shrinkage associated with curing. It is derived from carbohydrate sugars and purified lactic acid specifically for the cosmetic industry. Use Sodium Lactate to make your Cold Process Soap bars hard and smooth. COMMENTS: I used this sodium lactate for the first time making olive oil soap. I heard this soap can take a long time to harden, and sodium lactate would help with this. It did! It hasn't been 6 weeks yet in the curing process, and the soap is quite firm.

COMMENTS: My HP soaps were ugly and crumbly... UNTIL i found Sodium Lactate. 1.5 tsp added to my cooled lye water for a 3# batch is perfect to keep my HP soap liquid enough to get into the mold looking nice. Once cut, the bars harden up nicely and look much better than without the Sodium Lactate.

COMMENTS: This really helps to harden cp and hp soaps. Bars get harder faster for easier removal from molds, and the bars last longer in the shower as well. I use this at 1 tsp ppo for most soaps. A little goes a long way! Excellent product at a great price.

COMMENTS: I use sodium lactate in every batch of cold process soap! There have been a couple of times that I forgot to add this, I noticed the biggest difference when I cut the loaf. The soap was stickier without the sodium lactate. It has also been great for my lotion recipes, it reduces stickiness and thickens the lotion a bit. It was a lifesaver during the summer! With sodium lactate, I didn't have as much trouble keeping the lotion stable.

COMMENTS: We use sodium lactate in cold process and hot process soaps. In cold process soaps, the sodium lactate acts as a hardening agent, allowing us to unmold the soaps earlier without damaging the loaves. In hot process, sodium lactate helps to achieve a fluid texture, allowing us to incorporate swirls and other design elements in the hot process batter. We love this product!

COMMENTS: I have never added salt or SL to my CP recipe before, and boy, what a difference it makes! I love how much more easily the loaf comes out of the mold, and I could tell a difference in the hardness of the bar in 24 hours or less. This is will go in all of my batches from now on! It comes sealed in its own bottle and then packed into a zip-lock bag. No leaks and easy to store.

COMMENTS: This is such an excellent product, it helps tremendously in our CP soaps. We didn't use SL when we first started making CP and found that we had so many problems unmolding and a lot of our soaps wouldn't harden at all, we had multiple batches that just stayed soft. We knew our recipe was right and someone suggested we use SL. I wouldn't make a batch without it now. Why take a chance on an imperfect product when the SL hardens it and it removes easily from our silicone molds. Even our little embeds came out perfectly after using the SL.
You might be able to get SL from some other places but we've found that this one is the best and the price for the product can't be beat.

COMMENTS: Most people use Sodium Lactate to harden their soap bars, but they are getting extra benefits by doing that. Sodium Lactate is used in the food industry for many things, including helping meat hold moisture. It does the same for your skin. It was hard to believe how smooth my HP bars were when I used this product. I used 5% in a shampoo bar that I could unmold in less than 6 hrs with no crumbling or sticking. Everything about it is very good for you and your products.

COMMENTS: I was very impressed with how this product helps to increase hardness. At first, I wasn't sure what to expect, but am very glad I tried it. A little of this stuff goes a LOOOONG way. I had to really experiment with this stuff before finding the perfect amount. And I only use it in recipes where I have softer oils, not an "all the time additive". My notes show I was pleased with approx 3% usage, but again, I think everyone has to figure these things out on their own, based on their specific recipes.

Added at 2.5% of total oil weight to my cooled lye solution and my soap literally slides out of the mold unblemished. Sodium Lactate is supposed to create a harder, easier to unmold, soap. I have read rave reviews, but needed to try it for myself. I decided to add 2% Sodium Lactate to my recipes. COMMENTS: A little surely does go a long way with this product. I was skeptical at first, but I will never make CP soap without 1-2% PPO of sodium lactate. Shrinking due to water loss can't be entirely eliminated, so don't expect miracles, but I've got soaps in my stock that have been there nearly over 9 months, and the wrappers are still tight! I wrap after a 6 week curing time. Soaps made without SL, at the same age, are slipping out of their wrappers right and left.
With regard to firmness and increasing the bar's longevity, SL is a must. I have some highly conditioning castiles and shampoo bars, which, without SL, would disappear way too quickly, and be too dentable long after cure time.
Sodium Lactate is a must for me!

There is a huge difference when unmolding a soap from a hard plastic mold when I haven't used sodium lactate. I highly recommend this product.

COMMENTS: When I finally discovered Sodium Lactate (from reading soap forums), and what is does, I started using it with every batch. Sodium Lactate helps to unmold soaps, especially if you are working with the silicone molds. It increases the hardness of CP bars.

COMMENTS: I use this in each and every single batch of CP I make. I don't know what I ever did without it! It creates of creamy texture in my soap and makes unmolding my soap within 24hrs or less easy. I use 13g PPO in every batch to my lye water without any issues. The lye water heats a little faster with adding it but that is not a problem or an issue. Just let it cool as usual and it soaps wonderfully.
